چکیده

Vortices play a central role in determining the static and dynamic properties of two-dimensional (20) superconductors. Artificially fabricated networks of superconducting islands weakly coupled by Josephson junctions are model systems to study the behavior of vortices. Studies of vortices in Josephson junction arrays generally neglect the magnetic fields induced by currents flowing in the array, Le., it is assumed that the penetration depth for flux A is much larger than the size of the array. With the present SNAP technology, all niobium arrays have been made with A of the order of the cell size, therefore, effect of induced fields must be considered for an accurate description of these systems.

Field dependence of the Josephson current and Fiske resonances in specially shaped Josephson junctions

We investigated the magnetic-field dependence of the Josephson current and Fiske resonances in specially shaped Josephson junctions. In order to be able to use junctions for high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy, a very good suppression of the sidelobes of both the Josephson current and the Fiske resonances must be achieved. In a theoretical argument we show that a properly chosen junction shape l...

Non-F0-periodic macroscopic quantum interference in one-dimensional parallel Josephson junction arrays with unconventional grating structure

A theoretical study is presented for a number N of Josephson junctions connected as a one-dimensional ~1D! parallel array in such a manner that there are N21 individual superconducting loops with arbitrary shape formed. In the resistive array mode, for bias currents I.Ic , all Josephson junctions in the array oscillate at the same magnetic field dependent frequency nB which is, in general, not ...

Dynamics of Kinks and Vortices in Josephson-junction Arrays

We present an experimental as well as theoretical study of kink motion in one-dimensional arrays of Josephson junctions connected in parallel by superconducting wires. The boundaries are closed to form a ring, and the waveform and stability of an isolated circulating kink is discussed. Two one-dimensional rings can be coupled which provides an interesting and clean platform to study interaction...

One-Dimensional Mott Insulator Formed by Quantum Vortices in Josephson Junction Arrays.

The quantum transport of vortices in very long and narrow arrays of small Josephson junctions has been studied experimentally. The chemical potential of the system can be changed by an external magnetic field. When the vortex density is commensurate with the one-dimensional junction lattice, the vortex mobility vanishes for a finite window of the magnetic field. The localization of the vortices...

Cubic structures of Josephson coupled superconducting spheres: three-dimensional models of granular superconductors (*)

The transport critical current in high-Tc superconducting systems is considerably limited by the microstructural characteristics of these materials [1]. Indeed, if we schematize these systems as a collection of weakly-coupled superconducting islands, we may adopt Josephson junction network models to describe their electrodynamic response. With the aid of these models one can show that the maxim...
